What It Does

This app performs topic modelling on a CSV dataset. You upload a CSV file, choose the column that contains the text, and the app uses BERTopic to group similar texts into topics.

It then shows several interactive visualisations, including a topic map, a topic hierarchy, word scores for topics, and a topic similarity heatmap.

When To Use It

Use this app when you want a first overview of the main themes in a collection of texts.

Research Examples

  1. Explore recurring themes in a collection of newspaper articles, policy documents, survey answers, or social media posts.
  2. Compare topic patterns in documents from different periods, sources, authors, or research sites after adding those metadata to your CSV.

Good To Know

Topic modelling is exploratory. The topics are not final categories by themselves: they help you discover patterns that you can then interpret, refine, or test more carefully.
