What It Does

This app lets you upload one or more documents and ask questions about their contents. It accepts .pdf, .csv, and .txt files, extracts the text, and uses a local language model to answer your questions based on that material.

The app is designed for short, direct answers. If it cannot find a reliable answer in the uploaded text, it is instructed to say that it is unsure.

When To Use It

Use this app when you want to quickly query a document or small document collection without manually searching through all the text.

Research Examples

  1. Ask targeted questions about a policy document, archival source, report, or article collection.
  2. Explore a set of interview transcripts by asking where specific topics, names, or events are discussed.

Good To Know

The answers depend on the quality of the extracted text and the limits of the local language model. Treat the output as a research aid, not as a final interpretation.

You can find this app in the B-TXT toolsuite under Interactive Apps on the VUB-HPC portal.
