What It Does

This app builds a network graph from named entities in a CSV dataset. You upload a CSV file, choose the column that contains the text, select a named-entity recognition model, and choose which entity types to include.

The app extracts entities such as people, places, or organisations and links entities that appear in the same text. The result is a visual network showing which entities occur together.

When To Use It

Use this app when you want to explore relationships between names, places, organisations, or other recognised entities across a text collection.

Research Examples

  1. Map which people and organisations are mentioned together in a corpus of newspaper articles.
  2. Explore place-name networks in travel writing, parliamentary debates, letters, or historical documents.

Good To Know

The network depends strongly on the named-entity model you choose and on the quality of your text. The app currently keeps high-confidence entities, so some uncertain mentions may be left out.

You can find this app in the B-TXT toolsuite under Interactive Apps on the VUB-HPC portal.
